Lyclear is a trusted treatment for scabies and crab lice that is suitable for use by both adults and children. Lyclear is the branded version of permethrin 5% cream. Permethrin is a synthetic insecticide that effectively eliminates parasitic infestations by affecting the nervous systems of mites and their eggs so that they are destroyed.
While it is highly effective in getting rid of mites and lice, its formulation is gentle enough for most skin types.
How Does Lyclear Cream Work?
The active ingredient of Lyclear 5% Cream is permethrin. This belongs to a family of insecticides called pyrethroids. These work by interacting with the nervous systems of mites, lice and their eggs, paralysing and killing them.
Permethrin works on contact with parasites, eliminating them and stopping the spread of infestation while relieving symptoms.
How To Use Lyclear Dermal Cream
For adults and children over two years old, apply a thin layer of Lyclear Dermal Cream to your skin. Make sure that your skin has been thoroughly washed, dried and left to cool before applying. Do not take a hot shower or bath immediately before you administer the product to your skin.
For scabies, your whole body should be treated, although your scalp and face can usually be spared unless they are directly affected by scabies (itch mites). Be careful to include the skin between your fingers and toes, beneath your fingernails, your wrists, elbows, armpits, external genitalia and buttocks.
Leave for 8-12 hours (overnight) before washing off with soap and warm water.
For crab lice, focus on the affected areas including pubic hair, armpit hair or facial hair (beards and moustaches) and leave for 24 hours before washing off with soap and warm water.
