Microfinance institutions or credit unions in Cameroon are categorized as follows:
- Category 1 Microfinance
- Category 2 microfinance
- Category 3 Microfinance.
1. Category 1 Microfinance Institutions in Cameroon PDF
As earlier mentioned, most Credit Unions or Microfinance institutions in Cameroon are affiliated to a network-affiliated credit union, classified as category one.
Cameroon has seven credit union networks under category 1. CamCCUL falls under this category.

2. Category 2 Microfinance Institutions in Cameroon PDF
Most Micro Finance Institutions (MFI) in Cameroon are category one. The few categories two and three are not located in every country region.
Category 2 Microfinance organizations are Limited Liability companies such as micro-banks. Deposits and savings are collected and lent to third parties.
