How to Calculate ENEO Electricity Bills in Cameroon

Learn how to calculate ENEO electricity cost consumptions using the new rates in Cameroon.

Calculating the cost of electricity bills in Cameroon is one of the most common questions ENEO subscribers always inquire about or want to know. Fixed rates help in these calculations to help consumers come up with the right amount for their bills.

How Much Does 1 Unit or 1kWh of Eectricity Cost in Cameroon?

From November 1, 2024, customers are now classified according to their consumption history and recharging habits. The new rates are be organized according to consumption brackets, with prices ranging according to the level of kWh consumed as follows:

Electricity Cost in Cameroon

For Residential or Home users

The cost per unit or kWh brackets is as follows:

  • 0-110 kWh: 50 FCFA/kWh (without VAT)
  • 111-220 kWh: 79 FCFA/kWh (without VAT)
  • 221-400 kWh: 94 FCFA/kWh (with VAT)
  • Above 400 kWh: 99 FCFA/kWh (with VAT)

Other Users or Commercial Consumers

Other users will also benefit from adapted rates, following a similar pricing structure as above. Furthermore, a monthly reassessment mechanism will be put in place, allowing rate categories to be adjusted according to customers’ consumption history.

Decision Establishing the Rate of Electricity Bills

The ARSEL decision Number 0096 of May 2012 fixes the sale prices of all electricity bills or tariffs in Cameroon. This excludes all electricity taxes paid by the ENEO Cameroon Company from the year 2012.

How to Calculate Electricity Bills in Cameroon?

The Calculation of electricity bills in Cameroon depends on the category of the ENEO subscriber as follows:

  1. Low Voltage Customers
  2. Medium Voltage Customers
  3. High Voltage Customers

The rates for each category are as follows:

1. Low Voltage Customers

Domestic or Residential Uses

Monthly consumption ranges are as follows:

  • Consumption less than or equal to 110 kWh 50 FCFA / kWh
  • Consumption between 111 kWh and 400 kWh 79 FCFA / kWh
  • Consumption between 401 and 800 kWh 94 FCFA / kWh
  • Consumption between 801 and 2000 kWh 99 FCFA / kWh

Other Uses or Non-Residential

Monthly consumption ranges:

  • Consumption less than or equal to 110 kWh 84 FCFA / kWh
  • Consumption between 111 kWh and 400 kWh 92 FCFA / kWh
  • Consumption between 401 and 1000 kWh 99 FCFA / kWh

Maintenance and Renewal of Meters and Circuit Breakers

The various maintenance and renewal costs for meters and circuit breakers are not applicable.

Public Lighting

Per unit cost of 66 FCFA / kWh.

2. Medium Voltage Customers

The tariff is made up of two additional terms:

  • Fixed monthly premium of 3700FCFA per kW of paid power
  • Proportional tax per kWh consumed, which depends on the number of hours of monthly use of the accepted power and the period of use, per the prices below.

The various maintenance and renewal costs for meters and circuit breakers are eliminated.

General System <1MW

Unit cost depends on the number of kWh as follows: Between 11 PM and 6 PM and between 6 PM and 11 PM

  • 0 to 200 kWh: 70 – 85 FCFA
  • From 201 to 400 kWh: 65 – 85 FCFA
  • Above 400 kWh: 60 – 85 FCFA

General System >1MW

Between 11 PM and 6 PM and between 6 PM and 11 PM:

  • 0 to 200 kWh: 70 – 85 FCFA
  • 201 to 400 kWh and above 400: 65 – 85 FCFA

Free-Trade Zones

Unit cost in free-trade zones depends on the number of kWh as follows:

  • 0 to 200 kWh: 70 – 85 FCFA
  • From 201 to 400 kWh: 65 – 85 FCFA
  • Beyond 400 kWh: 60 – 85 FCFA

Companies established in Free Zones or in the industrial Free trade zone are exempted from advance payment before electricity consumption.

A 10 percent increase in the proportional tariffs will be received as a guarantee of compliance.

3. High Voltage Customers

The tariffs for the sale of high Voltage electricity to new subscribers are fixed within the framework of the contracts signed between ENEO Cameroon and said subscribers, with advice from the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency.

Extra Information on Price of Electricity

If the invoicing takes place beyond 30 days, ENEO CAMEROON must defer the additional consumption in the invoice for the following month;

  • ENEO Cameroon must, within three months of the signing of this decision, and subject to the regime of infractions and sanctions in force, offer the possibility to the user to choose between different types of meters and in particular about migrating to digital meters with prepayment or post-payment, approved in Cameroon.
  • Any compensation may only be obtained after the audit of the quantities of energy sold, the quality of service, investment obligations, and control of revenues.
